Selden Fox Training
Programs
Selden Fox has always made training
a priority for its people. Whether orienting new hires to the
firm, providing audit development skills sessions or conducting
accounting and tax update seminars, Selden Fox feels strongly
about instilling as much knowledge as possible throughout the
year.
New
hires begin with a brief orientation to the firm so as to acquaint
them to various aspects of the organization. New hires can also
expect to spend a week training in audit concepts as well as
receiving a tax introduction at the onset of the busy tax season.
Audit training is conducted by Ms. Sharon Gregor, Vice President
of Assurance Services, and a member of the Board of Directors
of the Illinois CPA Society.
Professional audit staff receive
continuous training in audit concepts. During their second year,
auditors spend three days on audit development skills, including
those necessary to run client engagements in the field. In the
third year, another three days are spent on highly technical
audit areas and analytical topics.
All professional accounting employees
participate in the Annual Economic, Tax and Business Conference
presented by Selden Fox for its employees, clients and business
partners each summer. Training is rounded out during the year
with one-day updates in the areas of accounting and auditing,
tax as well as governmental and not-for-profits.
The aforementioned training topics
are by no means an exhaustive list. Down the road, other training
sessions are presented, such as performance management and manager
training. As needs arise, new topics are introduced so as to
maintain a staff of well-informed employees.
