John has more than 35 years of public accounting experience, serving both publicly-traded and privately-owned companies. He spent the first ten years of his career with Pannell Kerr Forster, a firm best known for its expertise in the club industry. John moved the club practice to BDO in 1991, where he served as an assurance partner in charge of the Chicago office’s Real Estate and Hospitality practice until his retirement in September 2017. He joined Selden Fox in January 2018.
John has extensive experience in the club industry, having been involved in more than 1,000 annual club audits throughout his career. John regularly consults clubs on a broad range of topics and has performed numerous special projects for clubs. He has been a featured speaker at the Chicago District Golf Association Officers’ and Directors’ Workshop, Club Accountants’ Association meetings, and Club Managers Association of America events.
John’s other hospitality industry experience includes working with private equity firms with investments in hotels of most major brands, ranging from limited service to full-service luxury properties, a hotel management company, and a publicly traded restaurant chain. John also has significant experience serving the real estate industry, where his clients included several publicly-traded REITs.
