There are more than 200 credit unions serving Illinois residents providing banking services from more than 550 branch office locations. Illinois credit unions have a total of 3.82 million members with more than $68 billion assets. The management of these credit unions and members of their Supervisory Committees need resources to keep up on the ever-evolving laws and regulations impacting credit unions. Here we outline some local and national associations that credit unions throughout the state of Illinois can turn to for resources and support.
- Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) – The ICUL is the primary trade association for credit unions in Illinois and is known as one of the nation’s most proactive and effective leagues. ICUL provides legislative support, advocacy, regulatory consultation and carrys one voice for credit unions with federal and state lawmakers. ICUL assists credit unions with compliance support, offers an array of professional development opportunities, and provides community development resources to help credit unions make a difference.
- Credit Union Political Action Council (CUPAC) – CUPAC is a voluntary association of credit union members, chapters and credit unions. CUPAC’s purpose is to promote good government and favorable legislation for credit unions through raising and disbursing funds to candidates and legislators sympathetic to the credit union movement.
- Credit Union National Association (CUNA) – CUNA is the financial services trade association and the only national association that advocates on behalf of all of America’s credit unions.
