Selden Fox audit manager Michael Plokonka has been named among America’s Best in State CPAs by Forbes magazine for the second year in a row. Forbes recently published its second America’s Best-In-State CPAs list created exclusively by Forbes editorial staff. They describe the list as a compilation of the finest active certified public accountants, sourced from a universe of several thousand candidates culled from nominations, recognition from respected associations of CPAs, and independent research. Those nominated were evaluated on a range of weighted criteria, including expertise, innovation, thought leadership, experience and service to the community and their profession.
Michael is a part of the firm’s Auditing and Assurance Group, where he conducts independent reviews of financial statements and audit reports prepared by the firm for a variety of its clients. He monitors and develops procedures to minimize high-risk areas for the firm’s clients. Michael also conducts training for the firm’s audit staff as part of the internal continuing education curriculum.
Michael is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the ICPAS, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He is an appointed member of the Audit & Assurance Services Committee of the ICPAS, serving as vice chair of the Committee, 2020-2022, and chair, 2022-2024. In the community, Michael serves as a volunteer board member of the Burr Ridge Community Park Foundation and was also the named the inaugural president of the Polish Language School in Burr Ridge (Szkoła Języka Polskiego im. Królowej Jadwigi) Parent Teacher Association in 2024.
