As a member of the Selden Fox Auditing and Assurance Group, Jeffery Dertz conducts independent reviews of financial statements and audit reports prepared by the firm’s audit team for a variety of clients. He assists with the curriculum development as well as conducting the firm’s regular professional development training sessions.
Professional Experience
Prior to joining Selden Fox, Jeff served in a similar quality assurance role at a mid-size firm where he was responsible for developing the quality control process with adherence to the American Institute of Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA) as well as the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) standards. In his review of assurance engagements, Jeff worked to identify issues in current procedures and propose recommendations to improve efficiencies in the process. Jeff began his career as an auditor ultimately overseeing all phases of financial statement audits, including audit fieldwork as well as board presentations to client boards and audit committees. His experience spans various industries, including insurance, healthcare, finance, investment, and employee benefit plans.
Jeff is a member of the AICPA and the Illinois CPA Society. He is also currently the president of the Chicagoland chapter of the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association (IASA) overseeing all activities and events.
Outside the Office
When he is not working, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife Kim, their two sons Michael and Brandon, and their three dogs. He also enjoys bowling and traveling with his family to bowling tournaments throughout the United States. He also enjoys home remodeling projects.
