As a member of the Selden Fox Auditing and Assurance Group, Michael conducts independent reviews of financial statements and audit reports prepared by the firm for a variety of clients. He also monitors and develops procedures to minimize high-risk areas for the firm’s clients. Michael assists with the development and teaching of the firm’s continuing education curriculum.
Michael’s continued connection and commitment to his heritage has proven valuable as he is creating a sizeable international client base, unique for a mid-size midwestern firm. His involvement with the Polish Investment & Trade Agency as well as other organizations and connections has created several opportunities for the firm to provide accounting and tax services to businesses often based in Poland and looking to expand their operations to the United States.
Prior to joining Selden Fox, Michael worked at a national firm with a focus on litigation support and forensic accounting, in addition to audit and advisory services. He led multiple financial statement audit, agreed-upon procedure, compliance testing, Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering (AML) and internal control review engagements. He also has advised governmental and not-for-profit organizations regarding risk assessments and internal controls. His experience spans various industries including government, non-profit, manufacturing, financial services, real estate, transportation, higher education, and social services.
Michael was listed among the Best-In-State CPAs published by Forbes magazine in April 2025. He was one of the 31 CPAs recognized in Illinois. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS) in 2024, an award bestowed on ICPAS members who display a commitment to excellence by taking on extra challenges and responsibilities in their volunteer service roles.
Michael is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the ICPAS, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He is also an appointed member of the Audit & Assurance Services Committee of the ICPAS, serving as vice chair of the Committee, 2020-2022, and chair, 2022-2024. In the community, Michael serves as a volunteer board member of the Burr Ridge Community Park Foundation and was also the named the inaugural president of the Polish Language School in Burr Ridge (Szkoła Języka Polskiego im. Królowej Jadwigi) Parent Teacher Association in 2024.
Michael earned his B.S. degree, magna cum laude, in accountancy in 2005, and his M.A.S degree, cum laude in 2006, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign. He is fluent in English and Polish.
When he is not working, Michael can be found outdoors, competing in triathlons, skiing, or hiking. He lives in Burr Ridge with his wife and three kids.
